This team was all guys, which was a bit different as well. They did some various projects here and there. Yesterday they started painting at La Roca. We are excited to start the beginning stages of giving La Roca a much need facelift. It was exciting to us to see this start to happen. We are going to paint the whole inside different colors as well as add new decorations. I have loaded some of the pictures that I took of the worked that was getting done at La Roca.
Over this past week, we had a team from Salem, Oregon come and work in the various ministries that are here in Autlan. Their whole group came with me to share with the men of Cread rehab center. It was a good time for the men who live there as the group shared various testimonies of God's grace in their lives.

Every missionary deals with having to deal with a schedule. When you are in ministry, there are many needs and things that come up for you to commit your time to. Right now we are trying to deal with a very busy schedule. So much so that it can be unbalanced. So for this reason I request prayer for this area. It is difficult to know where my time should be cut back. Jessie and I having been talking about it over the last week, yet it is still unclear as to what we should do. Right now as it stands, I have five nights of the week that are spoken for. That is a lot. Then there are the days where I need to work at La Roca to prepare my sermons or prepare for Sunday evenings to have the coffee house open and the latest prepare for English classes starting in August. I am not making any excuses. But it is difficult to manage it all at times. When it is difficult it become stressful and tension mounts. My prayer is that God would give clear direction as to what steps I need to take to better manage my time. Thank your l
During my morning devotions today, I read from the book of Acts. As I was reading chapter 4 about how Peter and John were arrested and had to go before the Sanhedrin. Through Jesus name they healed a 40 year old crippled man, they were asked "By what power or by what name have you done this?" Here is a group of people who are checking to see who these men were and what power they were using. What would that have been like to hear that someone was healed and to question the men who heal the man? They questioned Peter and John and they responded in verses 9-12. In verse 13 it says: Now when the saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized the had been with Jesus. (NKJV) If this is what people thought about Peter and John, what do they think of me? Am I filled with boldness that comes from the Holy Spirit? Am I perceived in a way that says I am uneducated and untrained? All I want is for people to see that I have been with Jesus. What does someone who has been with Jesus look like? It is a person who has been made a new creation and the old man has been crucified. We need to be men and women who are people who have been with Jesus. There is something different. It doesn't mean we have all the answers or we look great. What matters is that we have spent time with Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. The one who designed us. He knows who we are and what we have done and what we are going to do. He still wants us. He still desires for us to have sweet communion with Him. That secret place where there is peace and rest. Just being with Him changes you. I need more of Him and less of me.
One of the many fruits we have on our property One more aspect of our house are the fruit trees that we have through out the house. We have a variety of fruit trees. This one in particular is dropping fruit by the hour. The morning you will sweep it up and by the afternoon it will be covered again. This fruit is called Nanses pronounced nan-says. People love them here. Again it is a fruit that we don't care for. They are like cranberries or cherries. Kind of tart not very sweet. We have been collecting them to give away to people. Right now you can get them downtown in the market. I personally would prefer to cut the tree down so I wouldn't have to clean them up. I say that with a smile on my face though. If you were to tell some one here that you cut down a fruit tree they would think you are ridiculous. It is part of the culture here that any tree that has fruit you should have even if you don't like them. We have come to enjoy giving the fruits away though. We also have three guava trees that have fruit all year round. We eat them on occasion but with them being there all the time you get tired them. On Sunday we went to bed late as usual because of being at La Roca. On Monday morning we got up and had our coffee. We were discussing some various thing we needed to do. One thing was buy some new decorations for La Roca as well as purchase contacts in Guadalajara. We knew that getting Jessie's contacts it would take up to two weeks to get them ordered at Costco which means that we would have to go twice unless someone else was going, who could pick them up for us. There is a team coming from Oregon in just over two weeks. So we decided to go to Guadalajara. We have never done that before, just decided to go. We ended up getting there at around 2PM. We went a part of the city that has an open air market where you can buy variety of house decor. It was a nice day. Kind of out of character for us though, a family of 6. Over the past couple of weeks after getting back from the states, we have been getting some ideas for the appearance of La Roca. So we were able to buy some things to spruce up La Roca a bit. We will post pictures of our progress as time goes buy. If you haven't seen our recent photos, there is one of the couches we are recovering. With some small changes we are hoping to improve La Roca. With English starting at the end of August we are hoping to use La Roca more. |
