On Sunday we went to bed late as usual because of being at La Roca. On Monday morning we got up and had our coffee. We were discussing some various thing we needed to do. One thing was buy some new decorations for La Roca as well as purchase contacts in Guadalajara. We knew that getting Jessie's contacts it would take up to two weeks to get them ordered at Costco which means that we would have to go twice unless someone else was going, who could pick them up for us. There is a team coming from Oregon in just over two weeks. So we decided to go to Guadalajara. We have never done that before, just decided to go. We ended up getting there at around 2PM. We went a part of the city that has an open air market where you can buy variety of house decor. It was a nice day. Kind of out of character for us though, a family of 6. Over the past couple of weeks after getting back from the states, we have been getting some ideas for the appearance of La Roca. So we were able to buy some things to spruce up La Roca a bit. We will post pictures of our progress as time goes buy. If you haven't seen our recent photos, there is one of the couches we are recovering. With some small changes we are hoping to improve La Roca. With English starting at the end of August we are hoping to use La Roca more.
One of the many fruits we have on our property One more aspect of our house are the fruit trees that we have through out the house. We have a variety of fruit trees. This one in particular is dropping fruit by the hour. The morning you will sweep it up and by the afternoon it will be covered again. This fruit is called Nanses pronounced nan-says. People love them here. Again it is a fruit that we don't care for. They are like cranberries or cherries. Kind of tart not very sweet. We have been collecting them to give away to people. Right now you can get them downtown in the market. I personally would prefer to cut the tree down so I wouldn't have to clean them up. I say that with a smile on my face though. If you were to tell some one here that you cut down a fruit tree they would think you are ridiculous. It is part of the culture here that any tree that has fruit you should have even if you don't like them. We have come to enjoy giving the fruits away though. We also have three guava trees that have fruit all year round. We eat them on occasion but with them being there all the time you get tired them.
