As some of you have read and heard us talk about Alonzo and Kenny. They are a young couple we have really become mentors to really. During the Easter we had a baptism for Alonzo. It was an important step for Alonzo. Over the past couple of weeks, he has had to re-adjust to being a normal police officer here. I don't know a lot about being a police officer but I found out through Alonzo that they work a full 24 hours and then get two days off. They get a nap during the middle of the night for two hours. But it is not an easy job needless to say. The other day, I was talking with Alonzo about how it was going. He said it was fine but that he was actually put with the group of police officers who are known to be the worst for corruption and other not so good actions a police officer would find himself doing. I asked him how he felt about that. He said for him it doesn't matter. They already know that he doesn't accept bribes and such. I asked him how many police officers there are in Autlan? He said about 150 or so. How many are Christians? One other that he knows off. He also mentioned that he wanted to start praying during their morning meeting before they all leave for their shifts. He was going to talk to the supervisor about it and ask before everyone leaves that he could say a prayer for the day. It is amazing to see the boldness of his faith. He has not been a Christian for very long. Even in conversations that he has had with the other police officers. I have heard him talk about what he has said to them. About how life is just a small amount of time in comparison to eternity. He is also brings his brother to church. I am blessed to be able to share with them the truth of God's word. Alonzo calls me his friend. Not someone you say is your friend you see on the street who is really just an acquaintance but a true friend. Someone who knows your strengths and weakness. I am blessed to be speak into his life. I am honored to watch Jesus work in the life of Alonzo.
Me and Alonzo standing on the ROCK!!! I have to first say that, I am only God's vessel. I just want God to use me to bring others to Him.
